REHABILITATION OF ONCOLOGIC PATIENTS WITH HEAD, NECK AND MAXILLOFACIAL DEFECTS
Abstract
The article reviews the efficacy of the rehab course of treatment on the maxillofacial area after surgery operations using complex endo- and exo-orthopedic instruments for the removal of defects. A method of the complex prosthesis was developed and introduced for the rehabilitation of patients with malignant tumors in the upper jaw area after surgeries. The analysis of the medical history and outpatient records of 107 oncological patients with postoperative defects of the maxillofacial area has been carried out, those undergone various prosthesis methods. According to the results of the study, the methodology of the complex prosthesis of defects on the upper-jaw area, using polyurethane plastic materials was improved, which enables making protective plates on the day of surgery. Due to complex rehabilitation, patients with malignant tumors and defects in the maxillofacial area recover up to 80-85% according to Dr. Kornievsky’s scale.
