APPLICATION OF XENOCOVERINGS IN PURULENT KERATOPATHY

FULL TEXT:

Abstract

The author performed xeno-coating in 12 patients when traditional therapeutic and surgical methods for treating patients with severe corneal ulcers proved to be ineffective. The xenograft with suture fixation to the conjunctiva was retained on the surface of the affected cornea for up to 14 days, which allowed full corneal epithelization. Relief of the inflammatory process in the cornea was achieved not only due to the mechanical protection of the affected cornea from the external environment but also strengthening of local immunity and the regenerative process of secretory immunoglobulin sgl - A in the lacrimal fluid. Immunoglobulin A in the lacrimal fluid increased by 1.1 mg, the amount of tissue enzyme IL - 4 has also increased by 1.2 mg ml, which is direct evidence of achieving regenerative process and epithelization of corneal defects.
