ADVANTAGES OF USING PRE-HARVEST PAPER BAGS FOR SEASONAL PROTECTION OF APPLE FRUITS

Abstract

Physiological disorders such as fruit rot, skin stains and blackening of the inside of the fruit are encountered when storing Pink Lady apples. The new ecologically friendly practice – fruit wrapping in paper bags during the season is applied for protecting fruits against diseases. Paper bags protect fruits from sunburn and provide favorable conditions for preserving essential elements for a long time. The chemical composition of fruits protected by this method and the role of calcium in the good preservation of fruits has been studied. Moreover, it is noted that this method is effective for growing organic products.
