TRIBOLOGICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MODIFIED HETEROCOMPOSITE POLYMER MATERIALS
Abstract
Nowadays, research in the field of development of materials with better physical and mechanical properties, pays a great deal of attention to the development of parts and structures in metal-polymer systems made with wear-resistant polymer composite materials for metal structures used in wear-and-tear and abrasive environments, in order to reduce the wear of structures used in vehicles, as well as – to new make-ups of materials and design of parts and structures with them that would have better physical and mechanical properties.
The development of make-ups for composite materials is based on polymers by modifying structural and interfacial bonds, in this regard, the study into their strength properties depending on their performance characteristics and reliability of used materials and parts, is considered to be relevant. In this view, modification methods - chemical, physical, mechanical, or a combination of these, are being increasingly used , which is considered effective in structural modification of heterocomposites. This piece of work reviews development of a new material by means of a mechanic-and-chemical modification method used in manufacture of hetero-composite polymer materials. The purpose of the study was to define an optimal make-up of a polymer hetero-composite material based on ED-20 thermoset plastic that would be best in terms of tribological characteristics, viz in terms of - the coefficient of friction and wear rate
