SCIENTIFIC ANALYSES AND TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS FOR INCREASING THE PRODUCTIVITY OF THE BALL-ROLLING MILL
Abstract
The increasing demand for steel grinding balls, currently used in
the crushing of ores and minerals, necessitates scientific research in this field.
Consequently, obtaining steel grinding balls through the rolling method becomes
significant. This article examines ways to enhance the productivity of special
two-roll mills with transverse-screw rolling, employed in the production of steel
grinding balls via hot rolling. The research aims to create a solid understanding
of what factors can boost worker productivity in making steel grinding balls using
the rolling method, based on how production is set up, and to draw important
conclusions from real-world tests. As a result of the studies done, the important
settings for the main parts of the rolling mill have been backed up with scientific
reasoning through analytical relationships. We have also analyzed key parameters
related to enhancing the productivity of the ball-rolling mill. Based on the analysis
results, rolling rolls with multi-start screw calibers, used in the ball-rolling
process, have been manufactured, and corresponding guide rail designs have been
developed. We conducted practical tests under production conditions at the "Ball
Rolling Division" of the joint-stock company "Uzmetkombinat," which produced
significant results.
